1908
The university’s predecessor, Jiangxi Women's Normal School, was founded.
1914
In 1914, the school was named The First Provincial Normal School of Jiangxi and became a pioneer of modern normal education.
1928
The school, originally established as the Provincial Rural Normal School, was later renamed to the Provincial Nanchang Rural Normal School.
1947
In 1947, the Provincial Rural Normal School, Provincial Labor Normal School, Provincial Social Education Normal School, and Provincial Wuning Normal School (formerly The First Provincial Normal School) were merged into the Provincial Nanchang Normal School. In the same year, the Provincial Kindergarten Normal School (founded by Chen Heqin) was integrated into the Provincial Nanchang Women's Normal School.
1949
Provincial Nanchang Normal School and Provincial Nanchang Women's Normal School were merged into Nanchang Normal School in Jiangxi Province.
2000
Nanchang Kindergarten Normal School was integrated into Nanchang Normal School.
2004
Nanchang Normal School was upgraded to Nanchang Normal College.
2005
Nanchang Second Normal school was integrated into Nanchang Normal College.
In May 2017
With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate institution and renamed as Yuzhang Normal University.
In December 2017
Nanchang Education College was integrated into Yuzhang Normal University.
